Sketches are Life

Where stories begin.
Every character, every idea, every book starts in the margins—on scraps of paper, in notebooks, doodled on my iPad while I’m propped up in bed listening to a “Stuff You Missed in History” podcast. These sketches are my favorite part of the process: loose, messy, so full of promise.
